Please join me on this journey... I can't wait to meet you!
Hello! My name is Ava Schlesinger – tattooing is my absolute love and passion.
In many ways it feels as if my professional life has come full circle. After graduating from Parsons School of Design, I had an exciting career in NYC as a graphic designer and then creative director. Once I had my second child and wanted a more flexible schedule, I went back to school to follow another passion – social work. My social work career has focused on holistically addressing the human and community costs associated with different aspects of interpersonal and other human trauma. I have had the privilege to work locally and globally in the arenas of gun violence, human trafficking, domestic violence, sex assault/abuse, physical wellness, and food- and income-insecurity – this is where my energies have been focused for many years. This work deeply informs my commitment to social movement, and the pursuit of equity, justice, and individual and systemic empowerment and wholeness for each of us, in every beautiful identity we claim.

As I was researching the possibilities regarding my own post-Covid growth, healing, and change, I stumbled upon the incredible opportunity to train as an artist helping those who had survived breast cancer and chosen reconstruction, who wished to essentially add a painting (a tattoo) of a 3-D nipple and areola to their reconstructed breast; this sort of tattoo is also useful for those who wish to refine trans-affirming top surgery or who have experienced scarring due to various sorts of breast augmentation. I am deeply humbled and honored to offer this service and I LOVE that this work happens in relationship...in person...not on Zoom ;-)

For licensing and certification purposes, and also because of the joy I find as a lifetime learner, I have pursued additional training in body art, permanent make-up, and other paramedical tattoo services.
I am a licensed tattoo artist in NYC and I am board certified by The American Academy of Micropigmentation. I hope you will allow me the opportunity to add ink to your body in a way that will be healing, empowering, restorative, and/or transformative in some other way.
Please join me on this journey, I look forward to discussing your hopes and dreams – we can chat via the button below, email, or please fill out the contact form.
